Spot Lights
The most popular accent light is the spot light. This is a simple lighting fixture that uses a powerful light. This light will illuminate a part of the yard, a tree, or even something decorative that you have placed in your yard. To know where it should go you fist have to decide what effect you want it to have.
Take a flashlight and go outside to the tree in your yard and shine it down in front of it. This is the most common place to put the light and will illuminate underneath the tree and branches. You can also try to place the light behind the tree and create a type of silhouette.
Driveway Lights
Solar driveway lights are perfect to use when you have a difficult time trying to see your driveway at night and when you want to keep people from driving on your yard. They come in two different styles; step and stake lights. The step lights will sit on the edge of the driveway next to the grass or buried partway into the grass beside the driveway.
The stake lights are designed with a sharp end that is placed inside of the ground. This makes the lights taller and easier for people to see. Both designs will cost around $20 to $100 and should be placed on either side of the driveway. They are designed with special sensors that will turn them on automatically when dusk falls.
